❓ Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Reach for the Stars Coaching?

Reach for the Stars Coaching offers a safe and supportive space for children and families to explore emotions, build resilience, and develop strategies for challenges like emotional regulation, anxiety, and school-based avoidance. Each session is personalised to meet your family’s unique needs.

2. Who do you work with?

I support families with children who are:

Awaiting or recently diagnosed with autism or ADHD

Struggling with anxiety, including school-based avoidance

Experiencing difficulties with emotional regulation or intense emotions such as frustration and anger

Coping with grief or significant life changes

I also work directly with parents, providing strategies to help them support their children effectively and feel empowered in their parenting journey.

3. Are there any conditions you cannot support?

I am unable to support cases involving eating disorders, OCD, personality disorders (such as schizophrenia), or situations where a child has expressed thoughts of suicide. If your child is experiencing any of these challenges, I encourage you to seek professionals who specialise in these areas for comprehensive care.

If I feel that your needs fall outside my scope of practice, I will discuss this with you and help signpost you to services that are better suited to support your family. In some cases, legal consent may be required for me to work with a parent.

4. Can you diagnose ADHD or Autism?

No, I am not qualified to provide a diagnosis of ADHD or Autism. My role is to support families who are awaiting a diagnosis or have already received one, helping them navigate the emotional and practical challenges that come with it. For a formal diagnosis, I recommend consulting with a medical professional or specialist.

5. What should I know before starting coaching?

You are fully responsible for your child’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being. You are free to discontinue coaching sessions at any time.

Coaching is a professional relationship designed to support your child’s emotional understanding, self-regulation, and personal development.

Coaching results are subjective, and I cannot guarantee specific outcomes. As such, refunds are not available.

Coaching looks at various areas of your child’s life, including family, education, relationships, health, and recreation, to offer a comprehensive approach.

Coaching does not involve diagnosing or treating mental health disorders and is not a substitute for counselling, psychotherapy, or mental health care. If your child is under the care of a mental health professional, I recommend consulting with them before starting coaching.

6. What happens during a coaching session?

Each session is tailored to your child’s or family’s needs, focusing on emotional understanding, coping strategies, setting goals, and fostering emotional regulation. Parent-focused sessions offer guidance on how to best support your child and manage stress effectively.

7. Is my information confidential?

Yes, everything shared in sessions is confidential unless agreed otherwise in writing or required by law.

8. Where do the sessions take place?

I offer in-person sessions in a welcoming cabin in Ashford, Kent, and remote sessions via video call or phone for families who cannot attend in person.

9. How long are the sessions?

Sessions usually last 60 minutes, though this can be adjusted based on your needs.

10. How many sessions will my child or family need?

The number of sessions depends on your situation. Some families find a few sessions helpful, while others prefer ongoing support. We’ll work together to create a plan that feels right for you.

11. How much do the sessions cost?

Prices vary depending on the session length and type. Please get in touch for information about rates and packages.

12. How do I book a session?

You can book a session by contacting me via tracey@reachforthestarscoaching.co.uk or using the contact form on the website. I’ll respond as soon as possible to arrange an initial consultation.

13. What qualifications do you have?

I have worked with children and families since 1996, including roles within the NHS as a community nursery nurse and a care coordinator for families with children diagnosed with autism and ADHD. I’m also a qualified children’s mental health and parent coach, having completed training with Dandelion Training.
