About Me

With over 30 years of experience in working with children and families, I am deeply committed to providing support and care to those navigating the complexities of childhood development, neurodiversity, and family life. Coming from a large family, I have always been surrounded by children, and this has sparked my passion for working with children from an early age.

My journey began as a nanny, where I formed lasting relationships with the children I cared for, and it expanded into roles in nursery schools, and then the NHS, as a community nursery nurse (health visitor assistant). In these roles, I helped families with a variety of challenges, from sleep and behaviour issues to diet and emotional support.

I have extensive experience working with families who are navigating the possibility of their child being neurodivergent. I’ve completed development assessments, worked with families facing challenges with education, mental health, and accessing necessary services, and helped ensure children received the specialised care they needed.

In my recent role as a Care Co-ordinator for Children and Families with Disabilities, I supported families awaiting an autism diagnosis and helped with everything from securing specialist equipment and funding to managing educational transitions and advocating for children's needs in school. I saw firsthand how limited resources within the NHS can lead to delays and growing backlogs, which often ripple through the education system and impact both children and their families in profound ways.

Having experienced the personal challenges of accessing mental health services within my own family, I understand the long-term effects these challenges can have on mental health, education, and family dynamics. My passion is rooted in advocating for families, ensuring they are seen, heard, and supported through their journey.
Through my work, I hope to continue making a positive impact by empowering families with the resources, knowledge, and support they need to thrive.

For us as a family we accessed counselling as we didn't know what else to do whilst waiting for Camhs, Some of the feedback we received from doctors at this time were "hide the clocks" they won't know how much sleep they are having then. Our child was like a zombie and not sleeping due to such poor mental health.
Or "grow some balls" from the head mistress of the secondary school yep you heard that right the head mistress.
We moved schools but by this time so much damaged had been done that our days consisted of late starts to school and then an hour at school and I would need to leave work and collect from school, the only saving grace was, I was self employed. Or a constant stream of texts "mum you need to come and get me now", "mum I can't be here" "Mum I hate school", "mum I feel sick". There were many 1am mornings where we were at the local beach throwing stones in the sea to try and regulate. As a parent I felt alone I had nowhere to go, no one to talk to that understood, and I felt like I was letting them down continuously. All I could do was be there and present.

We found counselling worked for the first couple of weeks and then we had Im fed up with talking about the past I don't want to go any more. I never wanted anyone to feel how we all felt as a family at that time. When I saw an advert for Dandelions training and I spoke with Nicky(the owner). Her passion was incredible, and her main ethos is that we need to stop ticking boxes for children. Stop assuming that all children fit in one box we are all individual and all have individual needs. Following one conversation I knew this is exactly what we needed at that point, and the difference this would have made to our lives would have been incredible . So here we are after 2 years of extensive training I have become a coach to be that person that I needed hoping to support Families moving forward.
